Description (physical)

Decorated octagonal base resembling the bottom of a lamp-post and supporting a curved plinth which rises up to support the open urn at the top. The base of the plinth is decorated with lattice finials hanging down. The top decorated with eight different heads, which although now worn, suggest portraits of the family. The base of the bowl rests on stylised acanthus

Description (iconographical)

There is surprisingly little information on the family's iron foundry in St Margaret's street - replaced in 2002 by a housing development.
